Wind Calculations:
When BS6399 Pt2 came into force to replace the CP3, it was quickly perceived as difficult to use. As a consequence, it is either not used, or minimally. In particular, the directional method is often pushed aside in favor of the standard method.
This is a pity, because the directional method, when the necessary information about the building is available, provides more favourable results. This is why we have developed automated calculation sheets, to make full use of the advantages of the new code.
|
Our basic sheet calculates the effective wind speeds and dynamic pressures in all directions with only a minimum of information on the building. In the example, the user input is highlighted in green, and the results are highlighted in yellow. This sheet can be printed with all the intermediate calculations apparent, so it can be checked by the relevant authorities.

To complement this initial sheet, we have developed a series in the same format, which deal with all the pressure coefficients that can be calculated with the code. The example given here is for pitched roofs, but sheets also exist for walls, flat roofs, internal pressures, and can be created on demand for other parts of structure.
